Program Details
Target Students
The program is designed for students working in government, environmental consulting firms, secondary schools, or who are recently gradated undergraduates wishing to advance their knowledge in environmental science, management and sustainability.
Program Duration and Class Hour
- Full-time: 1 - 1.5 years
- Part-time: 2 - 2.5 years
Majority of the lectures will be given on the weekday evenings, with some during daytime on the weekdays and Saturday. While the majority of lectures will be given on the Clear Water Bay campus of HKUST, some might be given at the HKUST new teaching venue located on the 30th floor of the Millennity in Kwun Tong. Each 3-credit course includes three lecture hours per week. Program Schedule
- Full-time students should take a minimum of 9 credits and up to a maximum of 15 credits per semester.
- Part-time students are normally expected to take 6 to a maximum of 9 credits (excluding MSc project) per semester.
The program fee covers 4 terms of study for the full-time MSc Program and 6 terms for the part-time MSc Program. Students who stay in the program beyond the normative study period covered by the program fee, or take additional courses or need to retake any courses are required to pay additional fee (HK$ 6,000 per credits).

All lectures and materials are in English.
Graduation Requirement
Courses will be assessed according to the grading scheme used for postgraduate courses at HKUST. Students in the Program must complete the program with a graduation grade average (GGA) of 2.850 or higher, as required for all postgraduate students at HKUST. Students failing to meet the graduation grade average (GGA) requirement of 2.850 or above are required to repeat or take additional course(s) even if they attain passing grades for all courses.
