Prof. Xiaoming Shi has been selected as the winner of “Heywood Young Scientists Award” R-Prize (Year 2022)

We are proud to announce that Prof. Xiaoming Shi, Assistant Professor in ENVR has been awarded the Heywood Young Scientists Award R-Prize for the year 2022. The Heywood Young Scientists Award is awarded annually by the Hong Kong Meteorological Society to recognize young scientists who have conducted outstanding meteorological research and projects in Hong Kong.

Prof. Shi has been recognized for his exceptional contribution to the field of meteorology through his outstanding research paper of meritorious publication. The R-Prize is one of two categories for the Heywood Young Scientists Award, and eligibility for the R-Prize is confined to researchers engaged in research in meteorology and related subjects who are members of the Society.

The Heywood Award Fund, in conjunction with the Hong Kong Meteorological Society, established the Heywood Young Scientists Award to recognize young scientists who have conducted exceptional meteorological research and projects in Hong Kong. The award is named after Mr Graham Scudamore Percival Heywood, the first Director of the Hong Kong Observatory after the Second World War, and was established in 2009 by his family and Dr. Boon-ying Lee, ex-Director of the Hong Kong Observatory in 2009-2011.
